Hachijojima Island (Tokyo, Japan)
Hachijojima Island is a remote Japanese island in the Philippine Sea, located about 178miles (287km) south of Tokyo.
Hachijojima Island is a part of Tokyo Metropolis and one of the Izu Islands.
The Izu Islands are a group of volcanic islands extending south from the Izu Peninsula.
Hachijojima Island is the largest and most populated of the Izu Islands.
The characteristics of Hachijojima Island are as follows.
- Geography: Hachijojima Island is a volcanic island characterized by rugged terrain, lush vegetation, and a beautiful coastline. The island is formed by two major volcanoes, Mt. Hachijofuji (Mt. Nishiyama) and Mt. Mihara (Mt. Higashiyama). Mt. Hachijofuji is the highest peak on the island.
- Climate: Hachijojima Island has a subtropical climate, which is popular among travelers seeking a warmer, more relaxed environment than the bustling Tokyo. Summers are hot and humid, and winters are mild.
- Tourism: Hachijojima Island is known for its natural beauty and outdoor recreation. Hachijojima Island is known for its natural beauty and outdoor recreation, including hiking, hot springs, beaches, and water sports such as snorkeling and diving. The island is home to rare plants and animals. The Hachijo Botanical Park is home to the Hachijo kyon, a rare and endangered species.

- You can rent a bicycle by the hotel and go up to the entrance of Mt. Hachijofuji
- We stayed in a sea-side room and could see beautiful starry sky from the room at night.
- You can watch the sunrise from the open-air bath "Umikaze-no-yu" in the early morning.
- Disadvantages:
- The hotel is far from the airport and restaurants.
- Free shuttle bus service is available between the airport and the hotel. It is about 3 km (30-40 minutes on foot) from the hotel to the Mine area where there are restaurants. We walked from the hotel to Sane area while enjoying the scenery.

BUSPA: Unlimited Bus Rides and Unlimited Access to Hot Springs
BUSPA is a free pass that allows unlimited rides on buses and unlimited access to hot springs for two days from the date of purchase.
The fee is 1,000 yen for adults and 500 yen for elementary school students, and is available at the town bus reception desk and on board the bus.
The pass can also be purchased through Mobile Ticket.
Although the number of buses on Hachijojima is limited, you can tour the island efficiently by following our recommended plan!
