[2014-2015 Season] Games for UNC Men's Basketball

UNC is Michael Jordan's graduating school, so this is for you Michael Jordan fans and those who would like to cheer for the Tar Heels!

UNC had an impressive 111-58 win over Fayetteville State University.

Justin Jackson had 18 points, Theo Pinson 15, Marcus Paige 14, Isaiah Hicks 13, and Joel Berry II 12.

That's a near double-score win!

November 7, 2014: UNC 112-34 Belmont Abbey College (exhibition, wins and losses do not count)

UNC had an impressive 112-34 win over Belmont Abbey College!

Justin Jackson had 16 points, Kennedy Meeks 14, Isaiah Hicks 14, J. P. Tokoto 11, and Nate Britt 10.

That's more than a triple score!

November 14, 2014: UNC 76-60 North Carolina Central University

UNC defeated North Carolina Central University 76-60.

Brice Johnson had 12 points, Kennedy Meeks had 10, and J. P. Tokoto had 10.

That's a good start!

November 16, 2014: UNC 103-59 Robert Morris University

UNC had an impressive 103-59 win over Robert Morris University.

Brice Johnson had 23 points, Kennedy Meeks 21, Marcus Paige 15, and Justin Jackson 13.

November 22, 2014: UNC 90-72 Davidson College

UNC defeated Davidson College 90-72.

Kennedy Meeks had 19 points and 12 rebounds, Justin Jackson scored 18, Marcus Paige had 13, and J. P. Tokoto had 10.

November 26, 2014: UNC 66-74 Butler University

UNC lost a close game to Butler University 66-74.

We were leading by 3 points, 35-32, at the end of the first half, but we turned it around at thbe beginning of the second half and let the lead slip away...

It is a disappointing loss, but let's keep our spirits up!

November 27, 2014 : UNC 78-56 UCLA

UNC had an impressive 78-56 win over UCLA.

Marcus Paige had 21 points, Justin Jackson 12, Isaiah Hicks 10, and J. P. Tokoto 10.

We bounced back from our last loss!

November 28, 2014: UNC 75-64 University of Florida

UNC defeated the University of Florida 75-64.

Kennedy Meeks had 18 points, Marcus Paige 16, Justin Jackson 12, Brice Johnson 10, and J. P. Tokoto 10.

It was a balanced offense with all 5 starters scoring in double figures!

December 3, 2014: UNC 55-60 University of Iowa

UNC lost a close game to the University of Iowa 55-60.

UNC trailed by one point, 55-54, with 2:13 left in the second half before running out of steam...

We need to work on our clutch time game...

December 7, 2014: UNC 108-64 East Carolina University

UNC had an impressive 108-64 win over East Carolina University.

Brice Johnson had 19 points and 17 rebounds, J. P. Tokoto had 19 points, Kennedy Meeks had 12 points, and Nate Britt had 10 points.

December 13, 2014: UNC 70-84 University of Kentucky

UNC lost to the University of Kentucky 70-84.

We were down by 15 points, 34-49, at the end of the first half and had a chance to catch up in the second half, but we could not catch up...

December 16, 2014: UNC 79-56 University of North Carolina at Greensboro

UNC had an impressive 79-56 win over the University of North Carolina at Greensboro.

Kennedy Meeks had 18 points and Joel James had 11.

It's good to see us not losing consecutive games!

December 20, 2014: UNC 82-74 Ohio State University

UNC defeated Ohio State 82-74.

Brice Johnson had 18 points, Marcus Paige had 16, and Justin Jackson had 11.

Ohio State was a strong opponent, ranked 12th in the Associated Press, but managed to pull out the win!

December 27, 2014: UNC 89-58 University of Alabama at Birmingham

UNC had a convincing 89-58 win over the University of Alabama at Birmingham.

Marcus Paige had 16 points, Kennedy Meeks 14, Justin Jackson 13, Brice Johnson 11, and Isaiah Hicks 11.

We have a good balanced offense with six players scoring in double figures!

December 30, 2014: UNC 86-64 College of William & Mary

UNC defeated the College of William & Mary 86-64.

J. P. Tokoto had 19 points and 10 rebounds, Marcus Paige had 14 points, and Nate Britt had 11 points.

It was a convincing win in the last game of the year!

January 3, 2015: UNC 74-50 Clemson University

UNC defeated Clemson University 74-50.

Justin Jackson had 13 points, Kennedy Meeks had 12 points and 12 rebounds, Marcus Paige had 11 points, and Brice Johnson had 10 points.

We won its first game of the new year!

January 5, 2015: UNC 70-71 University of Notre Dame

UNC lost a close game to the University of Notre Dame 70-71.

UNC led by one point, 70-71, with 1:07 left in the second half, and could not score the game-winning shot as time expired...

It was a disappointing loss, but let's move on to the next game!

January 10, 2015: UNC 72-71 University of Louisville

UNC defeated the University of Louisville 72-71.

Kennedy Meeks had 13 points, Brice Johnson 11 points and 11 rebounds, J. P. Tokoto 10 points, and Marcus Paige 10 points.

It was a tough battle, but we managed to avoid a second straight loss.

January 14, 2015: UNC 81-79 North Carolina State University

UNC defeated North Carolina State 81-79.

Marcus Paige had 23 points, Kennedy Meeks had 15 points and 10 rebounds, Isaiah Hicks had 12 points, and Brice Johnson had 10 points.

It was a close game, but we managed to pull through!

January 18, 2015: UNC 68-53 Virginia Tech

UNC defeated Virginia Tech 68-53.

Justin Jackson had 16 points, Brice Johnson had 12 points and 11 rebounds, and J. P. Tokoto had 10 points.

January 21, 2015: UNC 87-71 Wake Forest University

UNC defeated Wake Forest University 87-71.

Brice Johnson had 19 points, Justin Jackson 17, Kennedy Meeks 16, and Marcus Paige 12.

January 24, 2015: UNC 78-74 Florida State University

UNC defeated Florida State 78-74.

Marcus Paige had 19 points, Brice Johnson 18 points and 14 rebounds, Justin Jackson 14 points, and Kennedy Meeks 12 points.

Leading by single-digit points was a tricky situation, but we controlled the game and held on for the win.

January 26, 2015: UNC 93-83 Syracuse University

UNC defeated Syracuse University 93-83.

Marcus Paige scored 22 points, Kennedy Meeks had 17, Brice Johnson had 17 points and 11 rebounds, and Nate Britt had 17.

January 31, 2015: UNC 68-78 University of Louisville

UNC lost to the University of Louisville 68-78 in overtime.

UNC led by 11 points, 36-25, at the end of the first half, but trailed 60-60 at the end of the second half and went into overtime.

In the overtime period, the opponent shot well and we were unable to stop the momentum and ran out of steam.

It is important to control the flow of the game.

February 2, 2015: UNC 64-75 University of Virginia

UNC lost to the University of Virginia 64-75.

At the end of the first half, UNC was leading by one point, 33-32, but the game was reversed right after the start of the second half and UNC was able to pull away...

The start of the second half was a disappointment...

We must avoid two losses in a row, because we have lost two games in a row!

February 7, 2015: UNC 79-68 Boston College

UNC defeated Boston College 79-68.

Isaiah Hicks had 21 points, Brice Johnson had 20 points and 10 rebounds, and Marcus Paige had 13 points.

It was great to snap a three-game losing streak!

February 14, 2015: UNC 76-89 University of Pittsburgh

UNC lost to the University of Pittsburgh 76-89.

Perhaps due to the shock of the death of UNC's coach Dean Smith on February 7, 2015, the game seemed to end on a bad note from the start.

February 18, 2015: UNC 90-92 Duke University

UNC lost a close game to Duke University 90-92 in overtime.

UNC trailed by 7 points, 42-49, at the end of the first half, but the score was 54-53 with 15:22 remaining in the second half, and the game was tied 81-81 at the end of the second half.

The score was tied 81-81 at the end of the second half. Even in overtime, it was a toss-up as to who would win the game, but the final shot was not taken and the game ran out of steam.

It's about time for a win...

Before the game, UNC players and coaches and Duke players and coaches stood in a circle together and offered a silent prayer in memory of Dean Smith.

February 21, 2015: UNC 89-60 Georgia Institute of Technology

UNC defeated Georgia Tech 89-60.

Kennedy Meeks had 18 points, Brice Johnson 16, Marcus Paige 13, J. P. Tokoto 12, Isaiah Hicks 12, and Justin Jackson 11.

It's a great win that will help us get out of the funk we've been in!

This is our first win since Dean Smith passed away!

UNC played "Four Corners Offense," a tactic that Dean Smith excelled at!

February 24, 2015: UNC 46-58 North Carolina State University

UNC lost to North Carolina State 46-58.

We were trailing by 11 points at the end of the first half, 18-29, and we started to shoot well in the second half, but our opponent's shots consistently went in, and we were unable to catch up.

We are out of shape, so let's rest up and get ready for the next game!

February 28, 2015: UNC 73-64 University of Miami

UNC defeated the University of Miami 73-64.

Brice Johnson had 22 points and 11 rebounds, Marcus Paige had 17 points, Justin Jackson had 11 points, and J. P. Tokoto had 10 points and 10 rebounds.

March 3, 2015: UNC 81-49 Georgia Institute of Technology

UNC had a convincing 81-49 win over Georgia Tech.

Joel Berry II had 15 points and Justin Jackson had 13.

Let's keep winning at this rate!

March 7, 2015: UNC 77-84 Duke University

UNC lost to Duke University 77-84.

At the end of the first half, UNC was leading by two points, 33-31, but after falling behind 51-53 with 11:53 remaining in the second half, the opponent was able to control the game and run away with it.

It was the last game of the regular season, and a disappointing loss...

Next up is the ACC Tournament, so let's rest up and get ready!

March 11, 2015: UNC 81-63 Boston College

In our first game of the ACC Tournament, UNC defeated Boston College 81-63.

Brice Johnson had 17 points, Marcus Paige had 17 points, and Justin Jackson had 12 points.

Let's keep this winning streak going!

March 12, 2015: UNC 70-60 University of Louisville

In the semifinals of the ACC Tournament, UNC defeated the University of Louisville 70-60.

Brice Johnson had 22 points, Marcus Paige had 13, and Justin Jackson had 10.

That's a good trend!

March 13, 2015: UNC 71-67 University of Virginia

In the ACC Tournament semifinals, UNC defeated the University of Virginia 71-67.

Justin Jackson had 22 points, Marcus Paige had 14, and Brice Johnson had 13.

Next up is the finals!

March 14, 2015: UNC 82-90 University of Notre Dame

UNC lost to Notre Dame 82-90 in the ACC tournament final.

UNC was unable to stop 10 of our opponent's 20 3-point attempts (50% success rate)...

Let's get back on track and challenge the NCAA Tournament!

March 19, 2015: UNC 67-65 Harvard University

In the first round of the NCAA Tournament, UNC defeated Harvard 67-65.

Justin Jackson scored 14 points, Marcus Paige had 12 points, and Kennedy Meeks had 10 points.

UNC led by as many as 11 points, 36-25, at the end of the first half, but the opponent was able to catch up in the second half, trailing 63-64 with 1:15 remaining in the second half.

Justin Jackson then made a pair of clutch 2-point shots to pull away with a 67-65 win.

March 21, 2015: UNC 87-78 University of Arkansas

In the second round of the NCAA Tournament, UNC defeated the University of Arkansas 87-78.

Marcus Paige had 22 points, Justin Jackson 16, J. P. Tokoto 13, and Nate Britt 10.

The game remained close from the start of the first half, but we succeeded in breaking away midway through the second half and ran away with control of the game!

March 26, 2015: UNC 72-79 University of Wisconsin

UNC lost to the University of Wisconsin 72-79 in the Sweet 16 of the NCAA Tournament.

UNC led by two points, 33-31, at the end of the first half.

With time running out in the second half, we couldn't get a shot off, and the opponent kept scoring on us.

Summary

Our record for the 2014-2015 season was 26-12 (.684 winning percentage).

It was a season that seemed to go downhill after the passing of UNC coach Dean Smith on February 7, 2015.

It was a shock to us as UNC fans, but rest well and get ready for the next season!
