Explanatory Video of Toyota's Humanoid Robots (mainly CUE)
This is an explanatory video of Toyota's humanoid robots (mainly CUE) (in Japanese).
It is technically quite difficult, but you who are interested should watch it!
Since our Founder/CEO&CTO Hiroyuki Chishiro's area of expertise is software (especially real-time OS), we will supplement Toyota's explanation of the technology with a focus on software (starting at 26:46 of the video).
The following technologies are mainly used.
- Real-Time OS: Linux with real-time extensions
- Real-Time Communication: EtherCat (real-time Ethernet)
- AI and Robots:
- Learning and inference of motion control by reinforcement learning
- Shot adjustment by Gaussian process
- Shot form search by Bayesian optimization
- Optimization while predicting future responses at each time by model predictive control
- Trajectory generation and control of a biped robot by Zero Moment Point (ZMP)
Summary
We introduced CUE, an AI basketball robot developed by Toyota.
It turned out that CUE uses a Real-Time OS (Linux with real-time extensions).
