Lovers Leap Loop Trail is a rocky section of the Appalachian Trail in Hot Springs that offers spectacular panoramic views of the French Broad River and Pisgah National Forest.
The name "Lovers Leap" comes from a legend that a woman in love jumped off the rock.
The famous Appalachian Trail passes through the small town of Hot Springs, so you can hike from the downtown core and walk a very scenic 2miles (3km) loop.
The loop takes about one hour, but allow plenty of time to enjoy the scenery along the way.
The elevation gain is about 0.1miles (150m) as you walk along the ridge, but it is a gradual ascent.
