On July 8, 2024, the Japan's men's basketball team for Tokyo 2020 Olympics has been selected (see table below).

On June 22, 2024, Japan lost a close 89-90 game to Australia.

Keisei Tominaga scored 18 points, Yuki Togashi 16 points, Josh Hawkinson 15 points, Yudai Baba 11 points and 8 rebounds, and Hirotaka Yoshii 10 points.

June 23, 2024: Japan 95-95 Australia

On June 23, 2024, Japan played Australia to a 95-95 draw.

NOTE: The game was played under the rule of no overtime.

Yuki Kawamura had 28 goals and 6 assists, Josh Hawkinson had 23 goals, and Keisei Tominaga had 14 goals.

On July 5, 2024, Japan lost a close 84-85 game to Korea.

Yuki Kawamura had 23 points and 6 assists, Josh Hawkinson had 17 points and 9 rebounds, and Makoto Hiejima had 11 points.

July 7, 2024: Japan 88-80 Korea

On July 7, 2024, Japan defeated Korea 88-80.

Josh Hawkinson had 34 points and 14 rebounds, Yuki Kawamura had 17 points and 9 assists, and Akira Jacobs had 8 points and 7 rebounds.

Revenge was successful!

The venus is Uber Arena, Germany.

On July 19, 2024, Japan lost to Germany 83-104.

Rui Hachimura had 19 points and 5 rebounds, and Yuki Togashi had 13 points and 5 assists.

July 21, 2024: Japan 100-119 Serbia

On July 21, 2024, Japan lost to Serbia 100-119.

Rui Hachimura scored 29 points, Yuki Kawamura had 12 points and 8 assists, and Yuta Watanabe had 10 points.

Paris 2024 Olympics

Japan will play against Germany, France and Brazil in the group matches at Paris 2024 Olympics.

The venue is Stade Pierre-Mauroy, France.

July 27, 2024: Japan 77-97 Germany

On July 27, 2024, Japan lost to Germany 77-97.

Rui Hachimura had 20 points and 10 rebounds, Yuta Watanabe had 16 points, Josh Hawkinson had 13 points and 11 rebounds, Yuki Kawamura had 11 points and 5 assists, and Hirotaka Yoshii had 10 points and 5 rebounds.

It was a disappointing loss by 20 points, but let's switch over to the next game against France!

On July 30, 2024, Japan lost a close game to France 90-94 in overtime.

Yuki Kawamura had 29 points, 7 rebounds, and 6 assists, Rui Hachimura had 24 points, and Josh Hawkinson had 16 points and 8 rebounds.

It was a very close game...

August 2, 2024: Japan 84-102 Brazil

On August 2, 2024, Japan lost to Brazil 84-102.

Josh Hawkinson had 26 points and 9 rebounds, Yuki Kawamura had 21 points and 10 assists, Yuta Watanabe had 14 points, 9 rebounds, and 3 blocks, and Yudai Baba had 11 points.

NOTE: Rui Hachimura did not participate due to injury.

It was a great fight by Japan, which did not give up until the very end!

Summary

We introduced Japan men's basketball team in Paris 2024 Olympics.

Although we lost three consecutive games in Olympic games, it was a great breakthrough that we were able to take the game into overtime against France!

We hope to win at least one game in Los Angeles 2028 Olympics!
