Japan defeated France 74-70.

The game was close throughout, but Japan was able to escape with 2 points + AND1 by Maki Takada (#8) with 1:15 left in the 4th quarter and 2 free throws by Saki Hayashi (#27) with 2 seconds left.

July 30, 2021: Japan 69-86 United States

Japan lost 69-86 to the United States.

Japan led 30-28 in the first quarter, but the score was reversed in the second quarter and the first half ended 40-49.

In the second half, we had a chance to catch up, but we were outscored by 17 points. It was a frustrating loss.

Inside defense and rebounding are the key issues.

August 2, 2021: Japan 102-83 Nigeria

Japan defeated Nigeria 102-83.

A great win in a 100 point game! It was truly a strong game!

August 4, 2021: Japan 86-85 Belgium

In the quarterfinals, Japan defeated Belgium 86-85.

This was the second consecutive win for Japan, following the win on July 15, 2021, and it was enough to advance to the last four!

Japan had been trailing Belgium for a while, but Saki Hayashi (#27) made a game-winning 3-pointer with 15 seconds left in the 4th quarter.

August 6, 2021: Japan 87-71 France

In the semifinals, Japan defeated France 87-71.

Rui Machida (number #13) set a new Olympic record with 18 assists!

This is an impressive victory by a large margin over France, who had won their group match by a narrow margin.

The growth of Japan is amazing!

August 8, 2021: Japan 75-90 United States

In the finals, Japan lost to United States 75-90.

Congratulations to Japan for winning the silver medal!

This is the first time for Japan to win medals through men's and women's basketball!

It was a great game. We hope for a gold medal in the next tournament!
