Kunitachi, Tachikawa & Around (Tokyo, Japan)
Kunitachi and Tachikawa are two cities located in the western part of Tokyo that offer a mix of urban convenience and natural beauty.
The characteristics of Kunitachi are as follows.
- Location: Kunitachi is located in the western part of Tokyo, about 15.5miles (25km) from central Tokyo.
- Education: Kunitachi has a strong academic and intellectual atmosphere due to the Hitotsubashi University Kunitachi Campus.
- Transportation: Kunitachi Station is easily accessible by train via the JR Chuo Line, which connects to central Tokyo and other nearby cities.
The characteristics of Tachikawa are as follows.
- Location: Tachikawa is also located in the western part of Tokyo, northwest of Kunitachi.
- National Showa Memorial Park: One of the most popular attractions in Tachikawa is the National Showa Memorial Park. The sprawling park has beautiful gardens, bike paths, and seasonal events. It is a great place for picnics and outdoor recreation.
- Tachikawa Airfield: Tachikawa Airfield is known as the former air base of the U.S. Air Force in Japan from 1945 to 1977. Today, the airfield is used by the Japan Ground Self-Defense Force (JGSDF) as its Tachikawa Camp.
- Shopping: Tachikawa has various shopping malls and commercial facilities such as Ecute Tachikawa and LaLaport Tachikawa Tachihi.
Kunitachi and Tachikawa offer a relatively suburban and relaxing living environment compared to the bustling Tokyo CBD.
Both Kunitachi and Tachikawa have their own unique attractions, and both are easily accessible by train to central Tokyo.
For both residents and visitors to Tokyo, Kunitachi and Tachikawa are attractive places to explore the western part of the city while enjoying a relaxed atmosphere.
