Tokyo Station & Marunouchi (Tokyo, Japan)

Tokyo Station and Marunouchi are both important landmarks in the heart of Tokyo.

Tokyo Station features the following.

• Location: Tokyo Station is one of the busiest and most important railroad stations in Japan. It is located in Chiyoda-ku, the central business district of Tokyo.
• Transportation: Tokyo Station is a key transportation hub connecting Tokyo to the rest of Japan, with Shinkansen and other railroad lines running throughout the country.
• Buildings & Facilities: Tokyo Station is not only an important transportation hub, but also a historically and architecturally significant building. The original station building, designed by architect Kingo Tatsuno, was completed in 1914. Its distinctive red brick facade has earned it the nickname "Red Brick Station". In recent years, the station building has undergone extensive renovations that have restored many of its historic features while adding modern facilities and a new shopping and dining complex called "Tokyo Station City".

Marunouchi features the following.

• Location: Located just west of Tokyo Station, Marunouchi is Tokyo's central business district and one of the most exclusive commercial areas in the city.
• Buildings & Facilities: It is known for its modern architecture, including skyscrapers and office buildings housing the headquarters of major Japanese corporations. Marunouchi is often associated with the Japanese financial industry.
• Gourmet: Marunouchi is also a shopping and dining district, with many upscale boutiques, restaurants, and department stores offering a wide variety of goods and services.
• Greenspace: The area is beautifully landscaped with trees, greenery, and wide streets, making it a pleasant place to walk and stroll.
• Townscape: Historic Tokyo Station and the Marunouchi district are in stark contrast, with classic, elegant architecture in the former and a modern, bustling atmosphere in the latter.

We have done the Imperial Palace run before, but at 30x speed, you can see a different world.

It was quite tough to cycle around the Imperial Palace twice in the lingering summer heat…

The cycle time was about 18 minutes.

We had to slow down for safety reasons due to construction work on the way.

One lap is about 5 km, so the speed is about 16.67 km/h.
