Fuquay-Varina

Fuquay-Varina is a town called "The Quay", southwest of Raleigh (state capital of North Carolina).

NOTE: The reason for The Quay is an abbreviation of Fuquay in Fuquay-Varina. For your information, "quay" means "wharf," but we don't think it has anything to do with Fuquay-Varina because it is not a coastal town.

Fuquay-Varina is part of Research Triangle Park, which includes Chapel Hill, Raleigh, and Durham.

The unique name of Fuquay-Varina comes from the combination of the two towns of Fuquay Springs and Varina, which merged in 1963 to form what is now Fuquay-Varina.
