Chofu, Fuchu & Around (Tokyo, Japan)

Chofu and Fuchu are cities located in the western part of Tokyo.

Chofu and Fuchu are known for their mix of modern urban life and traditional Japanese culture.

Chofu is characterized by the following features.

• Jindaiji Temple: Jindaiji Temple is one of the oldest temples in Tokyo, famous for its serene atmosphere and beautiful garden. It is especially popular during the cherry blossom season in spring and the season of autumn leaves in fall.
• Shopping Street along Jindaiji Street: Near Jindaiji Temple, visitors can enjoy local street food and buy souvenirs. The Kitaro Tea House, a cafe/shop/gallery featuring the character "Gegege no Kitaro," and the Jindaiji Soba Restaurant are well-known.
• Jindai Botanical Park: Located next to Jindaiji Temple, Jindai Botanical Park offers a variety of plants and flowers. There is also a nice walking path around a small lake in the garden. Don't forget to visit the Aquatic Botanical Garden in Jindai Botanical Park, where the ruins of Jindaiji Castle are located!

Fuchu features the following.

• Fuchu Racecourse: If you are interested in horse racing, visit Fuchu Racecourse, one of the major horse racing tracks in Tokyo.
• Fuchu no Mori Park: Fuchu no Mori Park is a peaceful park with a promenade and a pond. It is especially picturesque during the cherry blossom season.
• Fuchu Art Museum: Located in Fuchu no Mori Park, the Fuchu Art Museum is an art museum featuring contemporary Japanese art. It is a great place for art fans.
• Fuchu no Mori Art Theatre: Fuchu no Mori Art Theatre is a place where various performances and events such as theater, music, dance, art exhibitions and lectures are held.
• Fuchu City Folk Forest Museum: The Fuchu City Folk Forest Museum focuses on the history and culture of Fuchu City. Located on a large site, the museum provides exhibits and information about the history, traditions, and natural environment of Fuchu City.
• Takahata-Fudoson Kongoji Temple: Takahata-Fudoson Kongoji Temple is located near Takahata-Fudo Station and has extensive temple grounds. The temple itself is known for its worship of Fudo Myoo. Fudo Myoo is worshipped as a guardian deity of Buddhism, and the temple is a place to pray for protection from bad luck and fulfillment of wishes.
• Tama Zoological Park: Tama Zoological Park in Hino City is home to a variety of animals from around the world. For example, there are lions, elephants, orangutans, koalas, and flamingos. It is a great place to visit with family and friends.
